I received a prayer request last night from someone in crisis. I ask all who are followers of my profile and group, “Heaven’s Backyard” on Gab, to join me in prayer for him or her. The specifics are not important to publicly share. God knows his situation and need. Let us just pray now to the Lord who is attentive to the prayers of those who desire Him above all.
I related and thought back to when I was suffering through such a trial in my early twenties. I sat down one day and wept with a sense of helplessness, but I already knew Christ who had made abundantly clear to me that I am not alone in Him. I turned my eyes upon Jesus in that moment, and He comforted me. I then wrote the following prayer:
“Lord, I trust you’re listening when my heart breaks and my spirit is afraid. Lord, I really need you when I’m alone and the daylight fades away. Although I don’t have many answers, my belief and trust in You is great. Where You lead me, I will follow.
God, You give me hope in the night. You fill my heart with joy by the morning light. You take away my fear. Lord, by your comfort, I survive! I would otherwise be here all alone, trying to make some sense of it all. When I cry, who better than You to wipe away my tears? I will evermore rely on Your hope that comes in the night.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)
Let this prayer and scripture be an encouragement and inspiration to my new friend in Christ on Gab and all others who are in need today of God’s comfort, strength, and guidance. He is faithful!
My purpose for this blog, my first book, and all else is purely for the means to further share the hope of my life that, in faith, has sustained me. My utmost desire is to do the good works that God would have us all do to lift one another up.
