Overcome This Wilderness

A black and white scene of a dried up creek bed in the forest.

I get the most powerful sense of God’s attentiveness where, in a place of great adversity, I choose to believe in Him.  Where I have not given up but, rather, affirmed my heart for the Savior who was once tested in the wilderness — the tempter seemed to flee as my soul felt baptized in the consoling warmth of Heaven’s cleansing waters.

  1. The hymn Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus is a hymn that my congregation sings quit often ( I am in interim pastor at the moment) and they are the words that I use each week before prayer, the words are just so beautiful and it reminds us all to look towards our Risen Savior Jesus Christ and not the world, enjoy reading your post

    1. This tells me much about the spirit of your congregation. You could surely discern that I originated in the traditional Church from decades ago, although I am not anywhere near an area where such a Church still exists. I was in 3rd grade when I first began to play a weekly role as an instrumentalist for worship service; I could play by ear and, since my parents knew that I could not see the hymns, they worked out an opportunity so that I could participate. So years of old hymns are as ingrained in me as the contemporary praise and worship music. There are newer songs that are as spirit-filled as the classics; because of my personal experience, I can distinguish a work of inspiration from a work of industry. But my heart mostly finds refuge in those golden-oldies. I love the tell the story of Jesus and His glory to the sound of Heavenly music.

Thank you for being here and sharing with me. May God bless you and your ministry. I’m following your blog. 🙂

      1. Thank you Jeff for following my blog I too enjoy both old and newer Christian songs, because this allows us as pastors to reach both young and old people in our congregation, and when we worship God in Spirit & Truth it truly doesn’t matter it is all about our hearts
        God Bless

    1. Thank you, and I was not exaggerating earlier when I said of your recent message, “Powerful!” Certainly, you are discernibly NOT fake news! 😊 Looking forward to reading more from you. And I plan to do more of these pingbacks when I see opportunities to make those connections for our readers.

    1. Yes, let this be to glorify God who has inspired me. Bella, I have this overwhelming desire to share what He means to me; this is an understatement. Pray for me if you would. There is something that I must do here, and I can barely let up to get enough sleep. This ministry is not my full time job, but I would make it so when / if God opened the door. I have come so far without only the means God has given me.

      1. And this is my prayer with you. God says that when we knock, the door shall be opened unto us. He also comes around knocking too. I have been hearing him knocking on the door for about 3 months now. He is calling his children that truly love him. Our ship has come in. I heard the siren from the ship last year Aug/Sept. It’s time. God is your Source, not your resource. We speak his words, now we must become what he has commanded. Seek him like Solomon and ask for his wisdom and knowledge to do the work he created you to do. Then do it. Remember all things are possible with God. If you will trust God today…right now, you will see the salvation of the Lord with you. Don’t see yourself as the victim, saying, look at what they did to me and I don’t have any help or money. See yourself as more than a conqueror because you are a child of the most high God and your brother is King Jesus. Jesus is our help. And he is worth more than all the money in the world. Did you know that you can’t buy or sell blood. It’s illegal in the world. They will buy and sell plasma but they can’t buy blood. That means you can’t be bought. You have already been purchased, redeemed, by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ. You have chosen him to be your Lord, now choose to serve him fully. Step out of the boat. Don’t look down. He told you to set your eyes on things above only. Don’t look back. He said once you put your hands to the plough, you can’t turn back. The Lord has bidden you to come…now GO FORTH! He has placed your feet on dry ground. You are standing on holy ground. The word of God. 2 Timothy 2:19 says it is your sure foundation. Jesus told Martha, didn’t I tell you you would see the glory of God if you would believe. You want this so bad. God has already given you the keys to do it. Now why are you halfway doing it. Let go of your fears and cast your cares on God because he cares for you. God will not put you to shame. You do his work and you cannot be put out, evicted, or rejected. God’s plans for you are of prosperity. All you can do is go higher when you do it his way. Remember he is the way, the truth, and the life.
When I moved into this house after living in a hotel for 3 months, I had no money, but I had faith. God said money is not the issue, it’s faith. God caused me to have favor since I have been here. I have been tested to see will I give up and believe the report of the enemy, but I chose and still choose to believe God. The owner doesn’t understand and is afraid, she’s been hurt and lied to and thinks I’m scamming her. Yet, God, by Spirit, causes her to keep extending grace towards me. Remember the woman with the 2 mites and the woman whose husband died and was a prophet? What money did they have? They had faith. Faith in God will get you anything you want and need. Remember Jesus said give Ceasar what’s his and God what is his. God’s money is called faith.
Oh Jeff, I could go on and on, but then it would be me and this was not me, it was the Spirit of the Lord. I am praying for you. I see you coming from afar. Do you see me waving? So glad you came and joined us on the battlefield in the army of the Lord.
Be encouraged. Be inspired. Be who God created you to be. HALLELUJAH! AMEN!
